🏆 Sports Recap

Dallas Mavericks 🏀

The Mavs are in freefall, dropping eight straight games and sitting at 19-33 on the season. Cooper Flagg and Naji Marshall have been playing well, but the post-trade-deadline roster is still finding its legs after moving Anthony Davis and bringing in Marvin Bagley III, A.J. Johnson, and Tyus Jones.

Major News: Mark Cuban may not be done with the Mavericks. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, a Dallas investor group is looking to partner with Cuban to reacquire the team from the Adelson/Dumont family.

The wildcard here is casinos. The Adelson family has major stakes in Texas gambling legislation passing. If the push for legalized casinos fails again this session, suddenly their reason for planting a flag in Dallas sports starts to shrink.

Edmond's Burgers & More

Edmond’s a perfect no-frills burger spot

Edmond's Burgers & More just landed at No. 59 on Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants in America, and it's not doing it with truffle oil or a tasting menu. It's doing it with double-stacked Angus chuck patties and onion rings that people drive across DFW for.

Edmond and Aida Lamce, an Albanian couple who moved to Plano in 2014, opened the shop in a strip mall off Independence and 15th after the beloved JC's Burger House closed. The space is small, the kitchen is open, and Edmond personally checks on every table.

Go for the Jaden's Burger: beef bacon, Swiss, a fried egg, grilled onions, and house sauce on Texas toast. The lunch special runs $9.99 with fries and a drink. No reservations needed, just walk in Tuesday through Saturday.
